

Obituary of Rosa Lee Hawthorne-Nixon
Rosa Lee Parker Hawthorne Nixon was born September 7, 1935 to Robert Young and Bertha Mae Parker, in Union Springs, Alabama. Rosa moved to Ft. Walton when she was just 24 years young, with her then husband, James Hawthorne Jr. Years later, she met and married Willie Nixon. Rosa worked for Okaloosa County School System for 25 years.
Rosa was preceeded in death by her husbands James Hawthorne Jr. and Willie Nixon. She was also preceeded by her twin sister, Rosa Bell Mundine, and two sons, deacon Darriel Lee Young Sr. (Gloria), and Robert Young (Mary).
Rosa leaves behind to cherish memories of her life; three daughters, Evelyn Pirtle, of Arizona, Patricia Mckinnie, of Ft. Walton, and Shirley Pullins (CURTIS), also of Ft. Walton. She also leaves four sons; Johnnie Young, of Quincy, Willie Young, of Panama City, James Hawthorne, of Ft. Walton, and Michael Hawthorne (Francesca), of Crestview. Rosa also leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren, and many friends and loved ones.
