Obituary of Christopher Barnes

Christopher “Chris” Barnes, age 56, of Ft Walton Bch, Fl. passed away peacefully at his home on March 16, 2025 with family by his side.

Chris was born in Fort Walton Beach, Fl. on October 7, 1968, to Diane Barnes and the late Willie E. (Bay) King.

Chris was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age. Chris attended First Community Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Fred Smith. Chris graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in 1987, where he was an awesome basketball player, and nicknamed “Cornbread Maxwell.” Chris was also a phenomenal break dancer who would move so smooth, he was labeled “one of the best to ever do it!” Chris was an entrepreneur at heart, living up to his favorite quote “REFUSE TO LOSE” . Later Chris opened C & P Clothing Distribution and became the owner of “Limo for Hire” a limousine service. Christopher was a dedicated worker, his contributions to Southeastern Sash and Door Inc was a testament to his commitment, skills and leadership. While mentoring the young men who became part of the work family he left an enduring impact on those who worked alongside him. Chris then medically retired in 2024, picking up hobbies such as selling vehicles, boats, and ATV’s among other things Once again showing how he “REFUSED TO LOSE”

Christopher is survived by his Children: Chrisswan Barnes, Christopher Campbell. His mother, Diane Barnes, Siblings: Billy (Carol) Barnes of Crestview, FL, Daniel Barnes, of Fort Walton Beach, Cynthia Washington and Latonia Spurlock, all of Colorado Springs, CO; Nieces: Laquilla West, Sasha Jones, Tia Washington, Shanece Washington, The twins Sharmaine Whang and Shamarie Jackson that he affectionately called “Dem Shawts”; Nephew: William Barnes; 14 great nieces and nephews; Aunts: Janice (Marc) Jenkins, Phyllis Morris, Tracy Foreman, Billie (Phillip) Goudy, Linda Carney, Rose Mary King, Margaret (James)Gandy, Queenie King; Uncles: Keith Foreman, John (Dora) Foreman, Rodney (Shanta) Foreman, Alfred (Evelyn) Barnes, Roy King and His “Tag Team” Ericka Barnes- Allen and Tosha Potter. Friend Myrna Rose and a host of cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Willie E. King, Grandparents Leroy & Grace B. Foreman, Charlie Lee Lewis, Joe & Rosie King, Thomas & Lillie Barnes, Aunts: Dorothy Cephas, Mary Jean Barnes, Sandra O. Barnes-Scaife, Uncle: Willie King.
