Obituary of Janet Margaret Woods

In Loving Memory of Janet Margaret Woods,October 16, 1942 – April 24, 2025

Janet Margaret Woods (Young), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 24, 2025, at the age of 82.

Born on October 16, 1942, Janet lived a life defined by compassion, dedication, and love. A devoted homemaker then nurse, she spent her years caring deeply for others—whether it was patients in her care or her beloved family at home.

Janet was an avid sports fan and could always be found cheering for her favorite teams, the Florida Marlins and the University of Miami Hurricanes. Her enthusiasm for her teams was contagious, and her passion for the game brought many joyful moments to those around her.

She was the proud and loving mother of three children: Denise Newell, Douglas Woods (Carrie) Scott Woods (Mitzi). Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, each of whom brought endless joy and pride to her life.

Janet was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Connie M. Woods; her parents, Mildred and Sterling F.R. Young; and her brother, Sterling R. Young. Though her absence leaves a deep void, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Janet was a fiercely independent spirit who lived life on her own terms. Her life was a testament to the strength of family, and the joy found in everyday moments. She will be dearly missed and forever cherished by all who knew her, especially her beloved and loyal dog Izzy.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Gentiva Foundation.
