Obituary of robert hoyt powell

Robert "Bob" Powell, 93, of Deland, Florida, passed away on June 28, 2022. Bob was born on March 8, 1929 to Coburn and Jessie Powell in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. After serving in the US Navy as an Electrical Technician during the Korean War he went on to study Electrical Engineering at North Carolina State University. After graduation, he landed his first job for Radiation Corp, now Harris Corporation in Melbourne, Florida. He would eventually work and retire from Brunswick Corporation's Defense Division in Marion, Virginia, and Deland Florida. He met Emogene Nobles while in college and they were married in 1956, going on to have two children, Neal Powell, and Cindy Powell Kurth. After retiring, Bob spent his time playing golf and woodworking. Bob was predeceased by parents and wife Emogene. He is survived by his children, Neal Powell (Claudine) and Cindy (Steve Kurth), six grandchildren, Ben, Greg, Dustin, Hope, Wesley, and Nicholas, and five great-grandchildren. A celebration of life is planned in September. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Barnabas Church School in the name of Robert and Emogene Powell Scholarship Fund.
