Obituary of Randall Albert preston
Randall Preston, 73, of Milton, Florida gained his wings on Tuesday, February 2, 2021.
He had lived in Santa Rosa County, Florida since 2001 moving from Marietta, Georgia. He was born on October 1, 1947 in Fort Valley, Georgia and graduated from Fort Valley High School in 1968. The next several years were spent in Macon, Georgia. Those that knew him well have heard numerous stories about driving the oval around the house on Carmen Street, installing the indoor bathroom off the back porch, working at the packing house, the stolen Mustang and of course, his days at the Candy Kitchen and Family Inns of America. He even spent some time on the local wrestling circuit and loved following ‘professional’ wrestling. Along with his Dad, he scored local dirt track racing and loved Nascar the rest of his life.
He went on to become a manager in the hospitality industry and also managed convenience stores. He was known for jokes that made no sense to anyone but him. He loved to cook (and eat), and we will miss his famous Brunswick Stew. He became a mainstay at the ballfields, soccer fields and wrestling tournaments sometimes as chauffeur and cheerleader but often was involved as a volunteer. He was a collector of anything and everything. He loved Velcro and anyone that has a need, we have plenty to share. He loved his home church of Concord Baptist in Austell, Georgia and was actively involved as an honorary deacon and organizer for the Wednesday evening dinners prior to moving to Florida.
Randall leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Lisa (Hammett). He also leaves five children whom he was extremely proud of and took every opportunity to brag about their accomplishments to whomever would listen – Tara (Hector) Jordan, Josh (Melissa) Preston, Zac (Amanda) Preston, Liberty (Roy) Davis and Anne (Shawn) Terrington. His heart belonged to his 11 grands Tristan, Ian, Brian, Kinsley, Taylor, Mason, Trenten, Oliver, Poppy, Cody (Lindsay) and Blake. He recently was blessed by the arrival of a great-granddaughter, Cadence. He loved his nieces, Anna and Elizabeth as if they were his own. He was blessed to have an amazing sister, June ‘Bug’ (Doug) See, and brothers, Richard (Sheila) Preston and Andrew ‘Andy’ (Martha) Preston. You are welcome Richard as we intentionally left out your nickname.
We are comforted in the thought that upon arrival in his heavenly home, he was met by his niece, Holly with arms stretched wide preparing for one of her famous hugs. Mom, Mary Ann ‘Polly’ (Outler) and Dad, Andrew ‘Fats’ Preston JR were there as well to welcome their son. We are sure that his beloved Uncle Henry and Aunt Mary Outler were not far behind. We all know his grandmother, Vinnie Bush will make sure her boy has everything he needs.
Unfortunately, due to the current pandemic that has caused travelling restrictions and health concerns, we will not be scheduling a service. This was his wish, and we will honor that. We ask in lieu of flowers or gifts, please make a donation to a local charity or organization in his honor. These are difficult financial times for many so if monetary gifts are not possible, please perform some act of kindness or assistance to someone in need. He believed in helping the needy in service or donation as well as supporting youth and church outreach programs.
