Obituary of emily carpenter perceval
Emily Carpenter Perceval of Pensacola, Florida, passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on December 7, 2020.
Emily Campbell Carpenter was born in Pensacola to Frederick G. Carpenter and Cornelia Brown Carpenter on December 29, 1929. She graduated from Touro Infirmary School of Nursing in New Orleans, Louisiana and devoted her entire adult life to nursing or teaching nursing. Over the course of her career, she was employed (usually in a supervisory capacity) at all 3 of the major hospitals in Pensacola, where she had a reputation for “running a tight ship”. In addition, for several years, she taught Nursing at the then Pensacola Junior College, but then returned to her passion - providing quality patient care.
Apart from spending time with her family and friends, Emily had many interests/hobbies over the years but her favorites had to be boating/beaching, gardening, needlework, and cooking (and eating). In her later years, her declining health prohibited her from enjoying a lot of interests outside the home but that didn’t deter her from living life to the fullest, filling her hours with voracious reading, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and playing cards and games with her family members and long-time neighbor and friend, Mary Lou Mullen. She also was a great lover of all animals and loved all of her family’s animal members.
Emily is survived by her children, Deborah Estes (Harry) of Valparaiso, FL; Mike Perceval (Morgan) of Gulf Breeze, FL; Cynthia Perceval of Long Beach, MS, and Pam Perceval of Pensacola, FL. She was also blessed to have four grandchildren, Michael White (Nicole) of Great Falls, MT; Peter Michael Perceval III of Austin, TX; Lauren Nash Deep (Matt) of Coronado, CA, and Elizabeth Nash Johnson (Phillip) of Tallahassee, FL; as well as five great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a future time. Those wishing to honor her memory may donate to The Humane Society, 5 N. “Q” St., Pensacola, FL 32505 or the charity of your choice.
Our family is grateful for her long and wonderful life. We miss her dearly. The family is also grateful to the caring team from Covenant Care for their compassionate and professional services.
