Obituary of Sonja katheryn dawson

Sonja Katheryn Dawson, 72, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at her home surrounded by love. Born May 27, 1948 in Hazard, KY, she was the daughter of the late Horace E. and Eliza B. Curry. She spent her early childhood in Knott County, KY before her family moved to Bonifay, FL in 1955. She graduated from Holmes County High School, then Chipola Junior College. She was most proud to be a charter graduate of the University of West Florida where she met the love of her life, Thomas. She received a BA in Early Education and worked as an elementary school teacher until she got married and became a stay at home mom. She later worked as a teacher's aide, then school secretary at St. Patrick Catholic School in Gainesville, FL where her girls attended school. She was a Roman Catholic by faith and loved attending Mass with her family. Sonja was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Thomas E. Dawson. She is survived by her daughters, Tara G. Dawson and Angeline C. Dawson, both of Pensacola; her brother, Robert L. Curry of Bonifay, FL; several nieces, nephews and special cousins; and her "grand-dogs", Faith, Hope, and Love Bug. She was a kind and gentle woman who was loved by everyone who knew her.
