Obituary of michael joseph kirby

On Thursday, August 22, 2019, Michael Kirby, loving husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away at the age of 50. Mike was born on February 2, 1969 in Louisville, KY to Dorothy and Donald Kirby. Mike married the love of his life in July 1991, Cheryl Zipay Kirby. Over the course of their 28 year marriage they raised two children, Dylan and Brianna and created a deep and wide community of friends and family. Mike was a friend to all and will be remembered as a warm, caring, and fun-loving soul; as well as a dedicated and exemplary father to Dylan and Brianna, and a committed and loving husband to Cheryl. Rarely would you find Mike and Cheryl apart, and if you were lucky enough to have befriended one, you were also blessed to befriend the other. Among many things, Mike will be remembered for his passion for music, best shared in the company of Cheryl and others and of course his love for the Dallas Cowboys football team. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Donald and his grandparents. He is survived by his wife Cheryl; children, Dylan and Brianna; mother, Dorothy; sister, Lynne Schenk and several nieces and nephews. A memorial visitation will be on Thursday, September 5th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a funeral service will be held on Friday, September 6th, 2019 at 10 a.m. both at First United Methodist Church of Pensacola. In lieu of flowers contributions in Mike’s name may be made to the Northwest Florida American Heart Association, Heart.org.
