Obituary of Richard bancroft allen
Richard Bancroft Allen, age 60, passed into his eternal life with the Lord on August 14, 2019. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut and lived there for the first eight years of his life, until relocating with his family to Pensacola, Florida in 1966.
He is a 1976 graduate of Pine Forest High School and joined the USMC from 1978-1982. Rick was an electrical contractor for most of his adult life, which allowed him many fun adventures; especially his trips to Stone Mountain with his children. Rick’s fondest memories are those trips with his family and his experience in the USMC.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alfred B. Allen and son, Jared Luke Allen.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley M. Allen; his daughter, Jennifer Leah Adams; his granddaughter, Auden Adams; his sisters, Joanne Quina, Debbie (Mike) Fuse, Joyce Hemingway, Susan (Kurt) Larson; brothers, Fred Allen, James Allen and Steve Allen. There are many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, as well.
In 2010, Rick’s health began to decline and his sister, Joyce, began her journey of caring for him. She tended to his needs until the very end.
A special thanks to the staff of wonderful, caring people who work at the Clifford Chester Sims Nursing Facility in Panama City; Emerald Coast Hospice, who treated Rick with so much love and dignity; the staff at Rosewood Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center here in Pensacola and Covenant Care Hospice, who took care of Rick with love and dignity until the end.
A special thank you to Jack Finney, a wonderful man whom out of the kindness of his heart became a friend to Rick and spent many hours volunteering his time with Rick while at Rosewood.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 11:00am at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, Florida 32508, The procession will meet at Olive Baptist Church-Warrington Campus, 103 West Winthrop Avenue, Pensacola, Florida 32506 at 10:30am.
