Obituary of Krista Lee Greathouse
Krista Lee Greathouse was born to Paula and Gene Greathouse on July 21, 1988. She came out with a head full of black hair that was as wild as her spirit.
Krista grew up on the West side of town, and spent any free time they had on the water. A true Pensacolian, she never lived anywhere else. Weekends and summer vacations were spent fishing, swimming, boating, and knee-boarding. She was always outside, and had beautiful brown skin that showed off her time in the sun.
Krista was always surrounded by her family, and she held them close to her heart. She was a regular at the grandparents’ house, or any cousin or aunt or uncle. She loved to be with her family, and genuinely enjoyed hanging out with everyone. There was never any catching up to do, because Krista spoke to everyone often.
Krista's entire life changed with the arrival of her daughter, Mariah. Mariah came out with a head full of the same black hair as Krista, and it looked as if Krista had given birth to her twin. They were inseparable. Krista took to motherhood like a pro. She was so infatuated with that baby that the selfie-queen herself soon had her little babe making kissy faces in the mirror right next to her. Every day you could see their smiles on Facebook, and it was evident that they were best friends.
She was a proud mother and always made sure Mariah was involved in sports. She started her out in soccer, but soon got the little firecracker into softball where her true talents soared. Krista went to every game, and if you ever went there with her, you would be completely ignored when her baby was at bat, while she wildly snapped pictures and yelled encouragement to her daughter.
Krista worked at Hellen Caro Elementary as the lunch lady. She was very fulfilled with her job, and she was so excited any time she was in the store and a student would run up to her and hug her. She loved the kids at school, and would often come home telling stories about all of the goofy things they did that day.
Krista was skilled at applying vinyl to shirts, and even fulfilled an extremely large order from the school. She made T-shirts, cups, and anything else you can imagine, and loved to do it. You had to chase her down to pay her for her work because she wanted to make things for everyone for free. She just enjoyed making them.
Krista is survived by her parents, Paula Greathouse and Gene Greathouse; her brother, Brandon Greathouse and her daughter, Mariah Matheny.
