He was preceded in death by his parents, Rayford and Louella Spann; sister Margaret Ard, and brothers Daniel Spann and James Spann. Wendell was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and husband who would help anyone without hesitation. He loved gardening, fishing, spending time outdoors and close company of his family and friends. He was a quiet, gentle, kind hearted and loving man who could always put a smile on our faces. Most of all, he cherished every moment with his best friend, soul mate, and loving wife of 46 years, Marilyn. Mr. Spann was retired from West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. He attended First United Methodist Church in Pace, Florida. He was an excellent cook and he deeply enjoyed preparing meals for his family and cooking Wednesday night fellowship dinners with his wife for his extended church family for several years. His family and friends will forever keep their memories of him in their hearts. “Memories are a way of holding onto the things you love and treasure. Hugs, kisses, laughter, love, caring, smiles – keep fond memories in your heart, for they will last a lifetime.” We miss you Pa, and will always love you. Miss Me – But Let Me Go When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little – but not too long And not with your head bowed low Remember the love that we once shared Miss me – but let me go For this is a journey we all must take and each must go alone It’s all a part of the Master’s plan, a step on the road to home When you are lonely and sick of heart, Go to the family and friends we know And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds Miss me – but let me go.
