Obituary of Karen Hicks Mclendon

Karen McLendon, 63, died Tuesday, March 21, at a Pensacola hospital. A native of Mobile, the former Karen Hicks was known for her intricate embroidery and for the handmade wind chimes she sold at arts fairs around Pensacola.

McLendon, who graduated from West Lauderdale High School in Meridian, Miss., and was a longtime resident of Pensacola, is survived by her husband of 42 years, John McLendon; their two sons, Travis and Robert; and two granddaughters, Anna and Riley McLendon.

Other survivors include her mother, Barbara Hicks; and three siblings, Wayne, Susan, and David. She was predeceased by her father, Lloyd Ralph Hicks.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the caring staff at Sacred Heart Hospital, Rehabilitation Center at Park Place, and Covenant Hospice.

A memorial will be held on April 15 with visitation from 1:00-2:00pm and memorial service from 2:00-3:00pm at Brownsville Church located at 3100 W DeSoto St, Pensacola, FL 32505

In lieu of flowers, family has requested donations towards funeral services. Donations can be made over the phone or in person at Family-Funeral & Cremation.
