Obituary of Aubrey Richard Monish
Aubrey R Monish “Dick”, 90, passed away on Friday, march 25, 2023 after a brief illness in Pensacola,
Florida. Dick was Born January 21 1933 in Bermuda. He is preceded in death by his father, Aubrey
Monish; mother, Ruth Monish; and sisters, Barbara Parmelow and Tina Hepworth. He is survived by his
loving wife of 69 years, Nancy Beaumier Monish; sister, Cynthia Monreal; son, Rick Monish; daughters,
Lisa Monish and Audrey Monish; granddaughters; Brittany Monish Flynn (Blaine) and Cheyenne Monish
(fiancé Cody Williams); 3 great-grandsons, Blaydin Flynn, Beckett Flynn, and Baylor Flynn.
Dick joined the Navy in 1951 during the Korean War rising to the rank of Lt. commander. He served in
the Vietnam War aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. He graduated from the Naval post graduate school in
Monterey, California with a Masters in Computer Science. After retiring from the Navy in 1973 he
became an administrator at Pensacola State College for several years before partnering with his son,
Rick to buy two Chevrolet dealerships in Foley, AL and Bay Minette AL. Dick was very involved in the
Rotary Clubs as past president of the Cantonment Rotary and as founder of the Perdido and Century
chapters, and as recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow ward for his philanthropic efforts. Dick’s passion and
favorite place was his family farm in Limington,Maine, where he spent his springs and summers. His
favorite poem was Robert Frosts’ “Stopping by woods on a snowy evening
A service with full military honors will occur on Wednesday April 19, 2023 at Barrancas National
Cemetery aboard NAS Pensacola at 1:00pm, those wishing to join the family will process from Olive
Baptist Church (Warrington Campus) at 12:45 pm.
