Obituary of Michael William Vantassel Jr.

Michael W. Vantassel Jr., 42, of Apache Dr., DeFuniak Springs, Florida, went to be with the Lord on August 7th, 2023 at Okaloosa medical center in Crestview, Florida.  Born in Ridgway, Pennsylvania on January 23rd, 1981, to parents Michael Vantassel, Sr. and Cheryl Gess Vantassel. 

Michael graduated from Warren area High School in Warren, Pennsylvania.  He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and long scenic drives, but he loved boating most of all.  He also loved walleye fishing.  Michael worked in construction and started his own business back in Pennsylvania.  He also worked on ATV's and vehicles.  He would donate money to WCYFL and would also donate his time coaching for several years.  

Michael Vantassel is survived by his father, Michael Vantassel, Sr. of Warren, PA; son, Devin Vantassel of Warren, PA; sisters, Stacy Simonsen (Vantassel) of Conneaut, OH and Dena J. Carr (Darr) of IL; brother, Andrew J. Darr of Thornton, CO; partner, Sonya Bechard (Mohney) of DeFuniak Springs, FL.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Cheryl Vantassel (Gess).
