Broward Carver

Obituary of Broward Edwin Carver

Broward Edwin "Ed" Carver, 89, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2023 at Covenant Care Hospice in Pensacola, FL.  Thank you CCH for providing him with the respect and dignity he deserved.

Ed was born March 16, 1934, in Fort Pierce, FL to Broward Rufus Stokes and Edna Ruth Murray.  Until her passing in 2004, Ed helped his Mother Ruth run a successful business in Cape Canaveral Florida called Carver's Cove Trailer Court.  This business was located on the picturesque Banana River and was Ed's home growing up.

At 17, Ed joined the Navy and was stationed at NAS Pensacola.  There he met his first love, his wife of 64 years Janis Reese Carver.  The young couple bought 3 acres of land in Cocoa, FL and raised one daughter, his other love, Linda Kay.  During their 23 years in Cocoa, Ed owned a concrete business, worked as a diver for NASA, became a welder, and finally landed his dream job when he became a fireman for the Cocoa Fire Department.  In 1978 the couple moved to NorthWest FL and Ed worked for the State of Florida Dept. of Corrections.  During this time Ed continued his military career with the Naval Reserve.  After retirement the family moved back to the Pensacola/Milton area.  After the death of his first wife Ed married Kitsi Bradley and lived in Milton Florida for 5 years, enjoying travel, dancing, music, and family get-togethers.

Ed's favorite hobby was hunting.  He loved the outdoors!  He spent every dime he had and every vacation day in the woods chasing deer.  Ed loved his truck, his guns, and his land.  Ed' s second love was his Harley Davidson Motorcycles!  He rode motorcycles his entire adult life until he physically declined.  Ed's third love was Bluegrass Music.  He played bass, both electronic and standup.  He was a member of many bands and he and Janis traveled to music festivals all over the southeast.

Broward Carver is survived by his wife Kitsi Bradley of Milton, FL, and his daughter Linda Carver of Pace, FL.  Other beloved family members include son in law Kenneth Banks, Grandson Cameron Gray, Goddaughters Nancy Brown and April Ward, and step daughters Hope Ozimek, Lynn Wigren, and Justina F Marina
