Obituary of Charlotte Kay Miller
Charlotte Kay (West) Miller, age 72, of Shalimar, Florida was called home by her Lord and Savior on August 18, 2023.
Charlotte was born on June 29, 1951, in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a wife, mother, “nanna”, professional hairdresser, amateur seamstress, and friend to all who knew her. Many of her friends called her “the best friend I ever had” because of her loving, gregarious, and generous nature. In addition to her family and friends, she had a deep love for her church family, especially for their unwavering love and support as she fought her unwinnable battle with cancer.
Charlotte graduated from high school in Albany, Georgia, followed by beautician school. She enjoyed her chosen profession and took great pride in helping people look their best. She met and, after a whirl-wind courtship, married her husband, best friend, protector, and the absolute love of her life, Galen Miller in 1972. She grew easily into the role of homemaker and loved being a mom to her beautiful daughter, Valerie, and accomplished son, Jason.
Charlotte adored being a nanna to her delightful grandchildren, Paige and Christopher, and particularly liked taking trips with them. She also enjoyed shopping, traveling, knitting, and sewing. She had the opportunity to travel to numerous foreign countries, and enjoyed the fact that both of her children were born while the family lived overseas. She also loved taking cruises with her devoted husband.
Left to mourn her passing are her husband of 50 years, Galen Miller, also of Shalimar; daughter and son-in law, Valerie and Kevin Bruce; son, Jason Miller; granddaughter, Paige Berblinger, all of St. Louis, Missouri; and grandson, Christopher Berblinger of Salt Lake City, Utah. She is also survived by three brothers, Walter West, James West, and Wayne West, along with numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hildreth and Martha (Morgan) West, and two of her five brothers, Robert West and Dennis West.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Ft. Walton Beach Church of Christ in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 9, 2023.
