Obituary of Anthony Craig Jones

Anthony Craig Jones, 67, of Pace, Florida passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023 after fighting a valiant battle with cancer.

Craig was born in Waterloo, Iowa to Sara Elsie Beth Hinson on December 13, 1955.  He was raised by his Mother and his Dad, Dallas “Dick” Amos.  Dick Amos taught his sons to love and respect nature while teaching them to hunt, fish and work on anything.  “This cannot be repaired” was a phrase you would never hear from them!  They played as hard as they worked.

Craig worked in the oilfield most of his life.  He started his career at 17 years old as a deckhand and retired as a barge captain.  He also worked construction, boilers and for a short time an over the road truck driver.

Craig is survived by his wife, Mary Trimble-Jones; sons, Anthony David (Katey) Jones, Justin Vignolo and Nick Vignolo; his amazing brother, David (Patricia) Amos; grandchildren, Trevor, Leila, Carlie, Emmaleigh, Shelby, Sally, Grace, Jaxson and our precious girl Kynnsie; great-grandsons, Josiah and Prestyn; aunts, Ann Hatcher, Ellen (Jim) Hadden, Carole (Bill) Perry, Linda Parks; the best uncle anyone could ask for, Robert “Uncle Bob” Hinson and a host of nephews, great-nephews and nieces that he was so proud of. The family would like to thank Craig’s two favorite cousins, Laura and Diann as well as Dr. Joudeh and his entire staff, and the wonderful nursing and support staff at West Florida Hospital 6 South.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 10:30am with a Memorial Service following at 11:00am at Leonard Street Church of Christ, 2730 West Leonard Street, Pensacola, Florida 32505.  There will be a meal served in the Fellowship Hall following the service.

 

When asked by his palliative care nurse if he was depressed, Craig’s response was depressed about? There are children suffering…their parents, their families… No, I have had a long life…A very good life! I have nothing to be depressed about!”  In this spirit, we kindly ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Children’s Hospital nearest you.
