Obituary of Norma Bethany Lewis
Norma Bethany Lewis went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the age of 82.
Mrs. Norma was born on Thursday, September 11, 1941 to the late Dwar and Ola McDaniel Alford. She was a loving, devoted, and hard-working mother and grandmother. More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her family, her “Joy” class, and helping others. Norma retired from her career as an Escambia County Correctional Officer after more than 30 years of dedicated service. She was an enthusiastic member of Olive Baptist Church where she faithfully attended and worshipped the Lord as long as her health allowed.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her sisters; Jewel Alford, Vonnie Zorn, and Zadie McDougald.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Paul W. Lewis; daughters, Donna Hargett (Deryl) of Cantonment, Fl., and Jill Sammons (Craig) of Lone Tree, CO; 4 grandchildren, Jay Sammons of Lakewood, CO, Charity Sammons of Highlands Ranch, CO, Collin Hargett (Emily) of Pace, FL, and Hannah Atkins (Marty) of Cantonment, FL; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and her church family.
Her love, Christian faith, and wisdom was not only apparently but greatly appreciated by all those she touched through out her life. She made those around her stronger and better people. She will be missed but never forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Norma’s honor on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Olive Baptist Church in the “678 Auditorium”, in Pensacola, Florida; with a visitation at 1:00 pm, followed a by service at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Charis House at ministryvillage.org/donate
