Obituary of Jimmy Wilson Hicks

Jimmy Wilson Hicks was born March 23, 1951 in Century, FL to the late Lonza and Ruth Hicks. Jimmy Passed away on September 20, 2023 at the age of 72.

He was a faithful member of the New Jerusalem Ministries church; he loved his church and his church family.  The church and congregation stood loyally by Jimmy’s side through out his illness. Before he became too ill to attend Jimmy served his church in many ways, his greatest honor was preaching the word of God.

After graduating from Tate High School, Jimmy received his certificate in Car Mechanics from Pensacola Vocational School. His very first job was at Muldon Ford dealership, and through a co-worker he met the love of his life Emily Dippre.  Jimmy loved racing at Five Flags Speedway in car #30. When he wasn’t racing, he was in the stands making life long friends or watching NASCAR with his wife Emily. His favorite driver was #5 Kyle Larsons.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 50 years Emily Dippre Hicks; daughter, Emily Lyn Atwell (Sean); sister, Joann Floyd (Burney); as well as a host of cousin and friends who were like family.

Jimmy never had an enemy, he was a devoted Christian, husband, father, and friend. His presence will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. His family is comforted by the fact that the void he has left in their hearts is not eternal, an they will see him again.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 2:00 pm at New Jerusalem Ministries, 1011 W JORDAN STREET, PENSACOLA, FL, 32501
