Obituary of Troy Lee Sherrill
Beloved husband, father and grandfather Troy “Pops” Sherrill, age 84, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
Born and raised in Jacksboro, Texas, he joined the United States Navy at the tender age of 17 as a helicopter mechanic. He rose through the ranks and at retirement he was a Chief Petty Officer. After leaving the armed forces, he and his wife, Jan Sherrill, found themselves in Pensacola, Florida. He retired for a second time at the age of 55 from the Pensacola Naval Air Station (NADEP).
We will miss watching him tinkering with watches and tending to his beautiful vegetable garden, as well as listening to his fishing stories from his Gulf adventures on his boat. A Mason who was committed to his family and community, he embodied the quote - “Life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences but rather, it’s a tapestry of events that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan”.
Troy is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Jan Sherrill, daughter Charla Palmer (Keith Carson), son Jimmie Sherrill (Lauren Sherrill), grandsons Ricky Garner (Amanda Garner), Charles Garner, Roby Garner (Sandy Garner), Aaron Garner, and many other grand and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughters Sherry Dearmon, Marsha Fischer, and Karen Sherrill and his light will be greatly missed.
There will be no services held.
