Obituary of David Brian Holmes
David Brian Holmes, age 66, of Iron Mountain, Michigan, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 24th, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully with family by his side.
Dave was born on January 1st, 1958, to Ralph and Rosemarie Holmes and his four siblings. He made his entrance as the first baby born of the New Year. His father, Ralph, passed away when Dave was only 13. Life may not have always been easy for the Holmes family, but their love and hard work pulled them through the tough times and they celebrated the wonderful times.
Dave went on to attend Ferris State University where he graduated in 1984 with a Bachelors degree in Automotive and Heavy Equipment Technology.
He married Kathleen Wellman, they had two children who he adored, Jennifer (Daniel) Grennier and Christopher Holmes. Next to the Lord, they were the light of his life.
Dave went on to own and operate Pembine Sports Center. Sales of motorcycles, snowmobiles, and ATVs were his passion in life.
He was an avid fisherman. Nothing was better than a day on the trout stream! From a young age, he also loved riding dirt bikes, exploring waterfalls, and appreciating all that this beautiful country has to offer. Many of his fondest memories were of times spent at the Holmes family cabin in Iron River.
Dave is survived by his children, Jenny and Chris; siblings, Steven Holmes, Suzanne (Chuck) Douglass, and Michael Holmes. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Rosemarie, as well as his brother, William Holmes.
The bond he had with his siblings was unmatched and very special to him. He was a very emotional, heartfelt, somewhat stubborn, and faithful man who loved God first and his children and family more than words will ever do Justice. He is wetting a fishing line in heaven today.
Services for Dave will be held this summer and announced at a later date.
