I am one of the older Foecke family nephews of Barb. Like many of the older nieces and nephews Barb was more like a big sister who didn’t live at home. I have many fond memories of time spent with Barb when she was going to school in Lincoln. The summer between my 8th and 9th grades I stayed on the farm with Barb’s older sister, Irene. I spent some time hanging out with Barb and her high school friends. Barb was accepting and tolerant of me. I’m sure I was really a pest but was never made to feel that way.

I am writing this from Yankton, SD with a clear view of the hospital where she was born. She was one of the first people I met in Pensacola and we were friends immediately. Her love of the theater, walking, dining, family made me right at home. She’s left a hole in my heart but a I toasted with a glass of Chardonnay. I think she knew that.
