Mr. Murray was a decorated Global Satellite Communications Engineer who started his career over 40 years ago. Tom and Global Communications grew up together, which led to Tom being quite the superstar in the industry, sought out by people from all over the globe for his expertise. During his lifetime, Tom traveled to all but one continent, circumnavigated the globe twice, and to almost every country in the world to help the local people have day-to-day communications, help governments beef up their security and protect the people, and many projects for multiple governments to help ship to shore. Mr. Murray did sub-contract work for NASA and the United Nations, along with various countries' governments and other organizations that help this world run more peacefully and protect the citizens of the world. Tom touched so many people’s lives, rather it be in the United States, Tibet, Germany, Italy, England, France, Switzerland, Oman, Qatar, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Guatemala, Venezuela, Tchad, Brazzaville, Greece, Brazil, Crete, Sweden, Cyprus, Somalia, Lebanon, Norway, Mexico, Myanmar, Kenya, Austria, Finland, South Korea, Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Belgium, Botswana, Republic of Cote d' Ivoire, Czechoslovakia, Congo, Ghana, Fiji, El Salvador, EL Salbador, Demark, Peru Iraq, Norway, Hungary, Estonia, Lithuania, Faroe Islands, Jordan, Loas, Luxembourg, Niger, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Uganda, The United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Vietnam, Pakistan, Jamaica, Algeria, Turkey, Republic of Benin, Gabon, Sudan, Algeria, Columbia, Japan, Chillie, Bosnia, Uruguay, Lebanon, Cameroon, Lomas, Zimbabwe, Central African Republic, Canada, Republic of South Africa, Bahrain, Ireland, Poland, Ukraine, Croatia, Romania, Kenya, Ghana, Morocco, Tanzania, Rwanda, Liberia, Togo, Armenia, Republic of Congo, Philippines, Iran, Indonesia, Argentina, Angola, just to name a few countries that were blessed to have Tom help bring communications to the citizens and help the countries stay on top of protecting themselves. Tom went to over 180 countries to bring communication to the people. Tom did a fantastic job representing the United States and was such a great person. Mr. Murray was known worldwide as “Texas Tom,” as he was a proud Texan first and foremost.
Mr. Murray loved his career; he loved meeting people from all over the world, learning about and embracing other cultures, and seeing the beauty of the globe. Tom embraced life like no other; he took that ball of opportunity to a whole new level. Tom had stories of being put in jail in Niger because the authorities did not understand his work equipment, being in the bush many times in Africa with Shamans, dancing in the streets of Venice, Italy with his wife, many series of books can be written about Mr. Murray’s adventures. Tom loved and adored his mates; he worked, traveled with them, and considered them family. Tom loved his family, especially his wife Stacy, as he spoiled her and could not stay away from her for too long. The mold was broken after Tom, as there would never be another gentleman with such intelligence and kindness, full of life and zest for adventure. There was one more thing well, many more things Tom loved, but his next love was for the innocent beings of the world, the animals.
Mr. Murray (Tom) was an avid and active global animal rescuer who spent much of his time, when not working, saving, and nursing the sick, injured abandoned fur babies worldwide. He could not walk by and see anything that breathed suffering, no matter what sacrifice he had to make to ensure the innocent were helped. Tom budgeted for food and vet help for strays when working and vacationing abroad and in the United States. Tom's last rescue was a deaf and partially sighted fur baby he loved named Chewbacca. Mr. Murray nursed Chewbacca for months to health and flew him internationally three times, eventually bringing Chewbacca home with him. Tom was extra, just extra, like no other when it came to compassion and love of all innocent ones.
Mr. Murray was in love with Mother Nature and respected all beings. Tom lived by Buddhism and was a peaceful, loving gentleman who found good in things and people most could not see. Tom was knowledgeable and had a massive heart filled with love for all. Tom loved scuba diving, golfing, watching football (European football), Go HAMMERS, boating, hanging out with his family, especially his outlaws, and meeting his mates at Irish pubs around the world to chat and have a Proper Pint or a drink of Gentlemen’s Jack, Tabasco sauce, which he was never caught without having on hand. Tom was even harassed many times flying because of his Tabasco sauce as an airline labeled it as a potential weapon, which brought many laughs. They took his Tabasco for that flight, but not without Tom rebutting the action. Tom truly loved life and living; he fought hard until the end. He loved his family, fur babies, friends, hummingbirds, all wildlife, and his wife.
Mr. Murray spoiled his wife beyond measure. Tom believed in people and was a solid rock for many people to turn to in times of need. Tom was fluent in many languages and brilliant yet compassionate and loving. Mr. Murray embraced life; when the pitcher threw the ball of life, Tom caught it and ran with it, and boy, did he run with it. He would say he was on his third life at sixty-four and was not joking. His favorite saying was, "I am glad you got to see me." Tom gave until the end; he was an organ donor, and his corneas will help two people gain vision. People worldwide are counting their blessings and are so glad Tom and his love touched them, as he was pleased to be touched by their passion. He was a fantastic man; they broke the mold when he was born. He had such a vibrant aura, always a beam of love and light with him.
As Tom would say, “I am glad you got to see me.”
“There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting.”
