Obituary of James Elvin Ronald Smith

James Elvin Smith, 81, of Pensacola, Florida went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 16, 2023. Born on February 18, 1943, James dedicated four years of his life to the Army, serving his country with pride and honor. Following his military service, James answered the Lord's calling to be a missionary and then a preacher, deeply impacting communities with his devotion and compassion. He also worked as an orderly at the University of Vermont Medical Center, where his caring nature touched the lives of many. James was a member and elder of Calvary Baptist Church, Essex Junction, Vermont, and most recently attended Family Baptist Church, Pensacola, Florida. He was cherished for his unwavering faith and commitment to his church family. Known for his hardworking, loving personality and his humorous nature, James was loved by all who knew him. He found solace and joy in reading his Bible, a testament to his strong faith and dedication to his beliefs.

 James leaves behind his beloved wife, Rosa Smith; his daughter Karen Smith; his grandson, Xavier Wyche and his wife Abigail. Along the way, James acquired family members, who he thought about often, and loved as his own. He was Pop to many and loved them with his whole heart. 

 He was met in heaven by his son, Christopher, his parents, James and Beulah Smith, and his siblings, Gene, Raymond, Arlin, Nona, and Mary Jo. 

 A service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Family Baptist Church 5454 Mobile Highway, Pensacola, Florida. The service time starts at 10:30 AM.

 James's life was a beacon of kindness and faith and his testimony will continue to inspire those who knew him.
