Obituary of Francis Mikell Jackson

Francis Mikell Jackson, affectionately known as Mike, was born on November 17, 1952, in Miami, Florida, and passed away on December 12, 2024, in Pensacola, Florida. He was the youngest of five children born to Margie Baggett and Francis Marion Jackson.

Mike grew up during the golden age of rock-and-roll, fostering a lifelong passion for music that became a constant rhythm in his life. With a career spanning over four decades as a Cellular Network Assurance Engineer, Mike’s expertise and dedication left an indelible mark in his field, adapting to the rapid changes of an ever-evolving industry.

A true Waterman at heart, Mike found serenity and joy in the natural world. Whether scuba diving into vibrant underwater realms or gliding across tranquil waters in a canoe, he embraced the outdoors with boundless enthusiasm. Boating, fishing, camping, and biking were not just hobbies but integral threads woven into the fabric of his life. These passions created treasured memories shared with his children and grandchildren during countless adventures under sunlit skies.

He is preceded in death by his son Joseph McCabe Jackson (42) and Mikell Francis Jackson (infant).

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Tanya Gennine Jackson Broom; son-in-law Reese Broom; grandson Kaleb Broom; and great-grandchildren Dominik, Aiden, and Isaac Broom. His legacy also lives on through his late son Joseph McCabe Jackson and grandson Eli Jackson.  His enduring connection with his ex-wife Nancy Dow Johnson remained a meaningful part of his journey.

Mike’s life was enriched by the cherished friendships he formed over the years, especially with the beloved Friday Night Crew, whose laughter and camaraderie brought warmth to his days.
