I just got the CHS alumni newsletter and learned this sad news! I had to post on this site because Kenny was one of my earliest friends, back to our days at St Stephens, when he was kind enough to invite me to a sleepover at his house on Jackson St in 6th or 7th grade. I still have fond memories of that time.
My thoughts & prayers go out for all the Johnson family and for Kenny & his family. I always liked Kenny and he was a righteous dude. Vaya con Dios old buddy!
I went to high school with Kenny. Our class, 1975 was the best among all the other classes. We have all remained friends and stayed in touch with each other over the last 45 plus years. Kenny never had a bad word about anyone. When i went to LSU after graduation Kenny would stay with us often a week at a time when he was working off shore with John (Nasty) Thomas. They would both come in for a week and sleep on the floor of our rent house at the gates of LSU. My sister, brother and I opened a bar and restaurant called The Pump in Station. Kenny would pour draft beer all night for customers then we would close the bar down at 2 AM and start drinking until 4 AM. Wake up and have breakfast and start the day all over again. Ricky Ponson and Mercedes Jackson were part of our rat pack too. I have wonderful memories with Kenny and all of us. God gained another Angel. My prayers are with you all . Clark East.
