Obituary of Francis Kenneth Johnson

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Francis Kenneth “Kenny” Johnson, age 67, of Pensacola, Florida. Kenny passed away peacefully Friday, May 24, 2024, with family by his side after a battle with brain cancer.

Kenny was born September 17, 1956, to Francis and Ann Johnson in Pensacola, FL. He was a proud lifelong resident of Pensacola and a 1975 graduate of Pensacola Catholic High School.

Kenny pursued several different careers throughout his life but ultimately found his calling as a millwright. He worked for several industrial manufacturing companies in the Pensacola area and concluded his career with International Paper.

He was an avid outdoorsman with a strong passion for hunting and fishing. Kenny was also a volunteer to Sportsman Givin’ Back, a charity organization designed to bring the outdoors to the less fortunate. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and regularly enjoyed a round of golf with his many friends.

Kenny was preceded in death by his mother, Ann; father, Frank; and nephew, Nick Marchione. He is survived by; his children, Michael (Jordan) Johnson, and Rachel (Brandon) Lightsey; his grandchildren Jace and Madeline; his significant other, Lynne Owsley, his siblings, Patricia (Joe) Marchione, Stephen Johnson, Susan (Stephen) Emmanuel, Theresa (Anthony) Bruno, Larry (Darla) Johnson, William (Linda) Johnson, Kathy (Brad) Hood, and Chris (Cathy) Johnson; and many adored nieces and nephews.

Kenny will be deeply missed for his dry wit, infectious smile, devotion to friends and family, skills as a baby whisperer, and expertise with frying fish and hushpuppies.

The family is planning a celebration of life for a later date on Kenny’s behalf.
