Obituary of George Adolph Schloemp
George A. Schloemp, 85 of Destin, Fl passed away on June 2, 2024. Born on February 1,1939 in Detroit, Michigan to Karl and Bernice (Metzner) Schloemp.
George proudly served his country in United States Air Force for 20 years. While in the Air Force he also worked as a DJ in Kokomo, IN and Niceville, FL under the name "George Baker." After retiring, George worked at the Aero Club at Eglin AFB and at the Destin Airport where he taught numerous men and women to fly. George loved and enjoyed his family and loved taking those who would visit him, for a tour of Destin and Eglin Air Force Base so he could share his vast knowledge of his favorite places and things to do. His hobbies were his love of flying, fishing, and story telling.
George is survived by his Sons, Robert (Kari) Schloemp of Crawfordville, FL and Cliff Schloemp of Destin, FL; Grandchildren, Hannah (Jacob Goode) Schloemp, Milla (Zachary McKay)Schloemp, Heather Schloemp and Matthew Schloemp; great-grandson, Wyatt McKay; sister, Elsie (Mike) Reh of Virginia Beach, VA; brothers, Karl (Claudia) Schloemp of White Lake, MI, Thomas Schloemp of Traverse City, MI, and Keven (Sarah) Schloemp of Clarksville, TN.
Along with his parents, George was proceded in death by a grandaughter, Rachel Schloemp and a brother, John Schloemp.
Family-Funeral & Cremation, Mary Esther, FL are handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that a memorial tree be planted in his honor. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
